  • DescriptionThis quest is perfect for a solo rogue. It is aimed at stealth types and rewards evasion rather than brute force. It is given by Lesto Half-Price in the Wayward Lobster of the Harbor.

You must venture to the Cultists Shrine, just outside of the Wayward Lobster, to steal the Dread Eye of Khyber from the shrine in there. If you slay more than 6 prophets during this mission, you will fail. So the key is to move around with stealth, be careful of who is watching when you pull the levers, and avoid combat at all costs.

When entering move forward until you can turn left. Hit the switch to open the gate there, and then backtrack towards the entrance down that path. There are two levers in this area that you can pull. The first opens up the deeper passage and the second opens up the gate near the entrance. Loop back to the entrance and then head back north. The previously shut gate will be open.

Follow this hallway until you reach the T intersection. Move left first and hit the switch in the room behind the door. Sometimes there is an optional experience Witch Doctor in this room.

Next move to the east and you will come to a large room witha big stack of crates. There is a southern room here that has a chest, but it is trapped. To the east leads to the path downwards towards the Dread Eye of Khyber.

Along this path there are a coupl more levers which open the various gates. When you come to the eye, simply picking it up will conclude the quest. There is sometimes an optional expeirence Witch Doctor near the Eye.

Once you have completed the quest if you want to milk the most of the optional experience you can then slay the rest of the dungeon. You will have already completed it so even though you kill 6 prophets, it you keep the experience, and are allowed to stay in until you kill 25 to complete your optional experience.

    stealthy repossession strategy <2007-08-07 01:59:02>
oldkraftThe key of 'Stealthy Reposession' is - according to description - to 'move ... with stealth'. Maybe, maybe not. I prefer the opposite strategy - especially good for soloing, but can be easily instructed to a party, that splits paths halfway to get it done very fast : Killing everything (if necessary) in the first halls leaves you with 2 prophets to go - 3 if you sre lucky and careful, You are thereby rid of a trail of kobolds that might sabotage your work in the second lever room. After this one cannot kill anymore before quest completion. Again the team running for the cellar may split into lever-handlers and gemgrabbers. The risk of failure is less than the stealth strategy i think. After completion there may be up to 5 chests to loot, potentially containing attractive named save-boosters.

adenium <Guest>My main toon is a Paladin. Nice for hacky slashy, but terrible for sneaking around. I waited until I was a level 7 and had hit points to burn through and just ran it, killing as few kobolds as possible. In the big room (#6 on the map) there's a high ledge you can climb up on and pick off casters, throwers, and warriors while leaving the prophets untouched. Once you've grabbed the stone at the end, you can kill everything else, including prophets and leisurely collect all the treasure.

    bugged <2008-05-11 23:48:49>
CJAKE <Guest>I've tried it several times, using both methods either stealth or a mad dash to the end...but the gem at the end must be bugged, because I can never grab it. Not even selectable. Did I miss something, the gem on the alter you are just supposed to pick it up, right?

Gem at the end. <2008-05-20 11:07:59>
Tearune <Guest>I thought it was bugged too, but look at the floor by the shrine - it's there, just small.

mafk <Guest>with my lvl 5 rogue hide/ms 19 i was able to do the quest on elite w/o killing a single goblin and tall optional bosses were present. Especially your ms must be high enough, then you can pull the lvers w/o waking up mobs near you. If the last optional boss is present and standing next to the lever. Pull the lever while standing in his back at max distance to him and restealth asap. I like the stealth approach because you can solo the quest on elite that way with a relative low level ...but you have to know how to stealth and your skills must be of high enough value
