| Description | This dungeon is well suited to both individuals or groups of players. The quest is given by Basil Tallbarrow who is outside of the dungeon.
This zone is very heavy on traps, so a rogue is a big bonus. It also has glass spider eggs scattered everywhere. If you walk near these they will either explode on you, causing strength damage, or they will hatch a baby glass spider. The objective here is to acquire Redfang's Silk Gland. He is at the very bottom of this dungeon. The rule of thumb here is to keep going down. It's not hard though as it is linear for the most part. The very first hallway is trapped, but if you hug the right hand side and run through, you can avoid it. Just past this is a room with two cages, the left hand side has a lever that must be pulled. The next large room has a locked gate that leads downward. To unlock this gate you must pull two levers that are up the ladders in the room. You will inevitably hatch some baby glass spiders when unlocking these. After this head downwards until you reach the bottom. At the bottom there is a room on the left and a room on the right. The room on the right occasionally has a gargoyle named Goliath. The room on the left contains the spider Venom, who gives optional experience. If you collect his stinger you may turn it in to Basil after the quest for a reward. Just before Venom though is an acid trap. There is a rest shrine just after Venom. You may as well use it, because you can not come back up. The door downward is trapped by spike traps. When you reach the bottom here you will need to pull two levers. The first is in the room on the left, which sometimes houses Tarnish, an optional experience mini-boss. The second lever is up the ladder on the left. Pull it and then climb the ladder on the opposite side. That room has a collectible in the center, but the floor is spike trapped. You can pick up the collectible if you are careful though. There is also a lever here on some crates. In addition to this the room to the left of this room has another lever on the bottom. You should hit both before moving onward. The next room is very dangerous without a rogue. It won't kill you, but it has a large number of strenght and constitution damage traps that can make the rest of the dungeon difficult for you. You must move past it though, and pull a lever atop one of the crates. Two rooms past this is Bile, who drops a stinger that can be turned in to Basil after the quest. After Bile is a long hallway that leads down to Redfang. This hallway has two fire traps in it. When you reach the bottom you have two choices. The first is to search for secret doors. There is a secret door housing a troll and a chest at the bottom. Or if you do not feel up to the task of fighting the troll you can open the doors to Redfang, who is guarded by two spiders. The adventure will not close until you loot Redfang's silk glands, so you could kill him first and then try the troll if you wish. Redfang's chest is on top of the ladder in his room. |
