| Name | Gianthold: Feast or Famine |
| Category | Quest |
There are three quests in Gianthold that will give you Elven relics. There's Cabal For One, The Crucible and Feast or Famine. These quests are tougher than the quests that give out Giant and Dragon Relics. Some players try to steer clear from The Crucible because of the time it takes to finish it. Truth be told, some players only do it on elite once just to get flagged for the Stormreaver raid. It's not really a best choice to farm Elven relics. So that leaves you with the easiest quest among the three: Feast or Famine (that is if you're just after the Elven relics).
BACKGROUND
Feast or Famine is a level 13 quest that starts at the Orc Encampment entrance. Once you get to the entrance the quest is automatically bestowed. To get there, you will have to enter the Ruins of Gianthold, jump off the left side and head northeast. Along the way, you might encounter Wyrm Cult Impalers and Gold Concord Wizards. There's a shrine outside the quest and you'll find Bosa Grimskin, the Wyrm Cult Traitor who will tell you that the Orc Hunting party is away and you have just enough time to kill their leader, Rhutha, before the party comes back. If you prefer to teleport and you can already access to Stormfist encampment, you may do so, but making the run will be much easier with lesser mob encounters.
PREPARATION
The Orc Lair is filled with different types of Orcs: Wyrm Cult Impaler, Wyrm Cult Sacrificer, Wyrm Cult Eviscerator, Wyrm Cult Bone-knitter and Wyrm Cult Heresiarch. They get some support from Worg Sentinels and Hobgoblns (Arzag-Khor Loremaster, Cloven Jaw Scout, and Cloven Jaw Warlords). Keep your eye out on the casters (Heresiarch) and healers (Bone-knitter) as they deal the most damage. Take them down as quick as possible to avoid party wipe. Orc Bane and Hobgoblin bane work best in this quest. Paralyzing weapons also help in crowd control, together with Solid Fog and Otto's Sphere of Dance. Cloud Kill will work on Wyrm Cult Impalers that are atop the ledges. If you don't have a good jump, you may not be able to reach them.
The Orc casters will cast firewalls and give you negative levels. So, it's best to have Fire Resist and Deathward up at all times. It's quite hard to tell if it's a friendly Firewall until you get scorched by it, so it's best to tell your Wizard or Sorcerer not to cast Wall of Fire. Or if they can't help it, they should tell the party that it's a friendly firewall.
There are some nasty traps placed on doors and chests. It's nice to bring in a Rogue, but the quest is still doable even without one.
As with other quests, it's always wise to stick together. If one party member gets aggro prematurely, it can spell doom for the party.
WALKTHROUGH
Upon entering the Orc Lair, start buffing (ex. Greater Heroism, Haste, Deathward, Resists, Stoneskin, Barkskin, Bard songs, etc.). The first Orc you'll encounter will be a lone Wyrm Cult Impaler. This is as soon as the path bends to the right. Once you beat him up, a few more orcs will come to his rescue, so just be ready for them. A well placed Otto's and Solid Fog will make things much easier for your tanks. After killing the orcs, you'll get to the first door with a switch. Make sure to stay clear from this entrance once the switch is pulled. There will be a nasty spike trap. A good timing will make you evade the traps. Once inside, you'll find the Wyrm Cult General named Noguk. He will be joined by his Orc minions. Crowd Control will play a key role in making the orc encounters less painful. While fighting your way against a horde of orcs, there's a floor spike trap (huge spikes!) that will activate once someone passes by that area. After the fight, make your way inside a tent and turn right. Another set of orcs and worgs will come attacking at this point. The path will lead you to a closed door straight ahead and a door with switch on to you right.
To open the locked door, you need to kill Ruzek, another Wyrm Cult General who can be found in the closed door with switch. This area also has 4 annex rooms. It's wise to cast Otto's Sphere of Dance and Solid Fog on the door entrance and pull the mobs there. Do this in all 4 rooms. After killing Ruzek, don't forget to grab the key that will open the first locked door. Once you gain access to the closed door, just head straight to get to the Hobgoblin Spies. There's also another door with switch just to the right of where the hobgoblin spies are. There will be another set of orcs before you reach a tent with ladder leading down to a shrine. You might want to save the shrine if you still have spell points. There is a big fight just a few steps away from the shrine, so if you need to use the shrine, make sure you place Solid Fog to slow down the mobs that may attack you while shrining.
After the fight, just continue on to the path. There's another locked door to your right and another one if you go straight. The locked door to your right is where you will find a named creature called Boghi. He guards a chest, so you need to kill him to get the chest. After getting your loot, head bacl to the way you came in and turn left. There's another door with switch and another 4 doors you can get into. One of the rooms houses Zykir, yet another Wyrm Cult General who guards a chest and holds a key to the last locked door in the quest. Just apply the same strategy of Crowd Control you've done in the first several rooms and your team will be fine. By this time, you might want to go back to the shrine to get back your spell points or recharge clickies and action boosts in preparation for the final fight.
Head back to the last locked door and you'll get to an intersection. Go to the left and right rooms for more kills if you're aiming for Conquest. After doing so, you can head straight to get to the area filled with all kinds of creatures - Orcs, Worgs, Hobgoblins. The final room houses the end boss named Rhutha Grimskin. He's not too tough but what makes him seem invincible is the fact that his minions heal him fast. Kill the Bone-knitters as quickly as possible because they are the ones healing Rhutha. After killing him, get inside the tent to find the final chest. Finish out and collect your end reward from Raksool.
