| Name | Crafting: The Stone of Change |
| Category | Crafting |
The Stones of Change are lesser forms of Eldritch Devices. They lack the power of the devices of Meridia and The Shroud but they don't require energy cells to power their recipes. The Twelve has placed a Stone of Change in the marketplace beside the Lordsmarch Bank and another at the base of the Tower of Twelve. The Stone has three primary uses:
1. To Combine Dragonshards. By now, you would have noticed that aside from gems, you will find different types of Khyber Dragonshard Fragments in the chests. Pick them up and collect them because they are the necessary components of larger versions of dragonshards. Here is the basic Stone of Change conversion for the dragon shards:
100 Siberys Dragonshard Fragments = Flawed Siberys Dragonshards
10 Flawed Siberys Dragonshards = Imperfect Siberys Dragonshard
10 Imperfect Siberys Dragonshard = Siberys Dragonshard
2. To Bind and Attune Items. Items that can be equipped can be bound to the user simply by just placing a number of Khyber Dragonshard Fragments to the Stone of Change. Binding the item will prepare it for the later addition of Eldritch Rituals. Now, why would you want items to be bound to you? A bound item never takes permanent item damage when repaired. Downside is that you can no longer trade those items. This is particularly useful for your dragon armors or your mithral armors.
So, how many dragonshard fragments do you need to bind items? Binding and attuning an item require (minimum level of item ^2) Khyber Dragonshard Fragments, so a minimum level 12 item would require 144 fragments.
3. To Upgrade Hardness and Durability of Items. "An attuned item can have one line of Eldritch Rituals upon it." At this point, the only ritual available is the Adamantine Ritual, which increases the hardness and durability of an item.
Requires: 10 Adamantine Ore and 10 Soul Gems: Essence of Earth, 1 Attuned Equippable Item. Can be placed in an item up to five times, however later applications increase only the durability of an item. Initially, it will have +5 Hardness and +10 Durabilty.
Note 1: Soul Gems are produced by the Trap the Soul Spell. This Spell forces a creature's life force and its material body into a gem on a failed Will save. Although this essentially kills the target, it is not a death effect and functions on creatures such as undeaded. It requires a khyber dragonshard as a special material component. Small Khyber Shards are needed for the first Adamantine Ritual - Earth Elemental (CR 7): Essence of Earth.
